"Check your balls" – The Most Innovative Registered Trademark of 2024

On April 29, the event "Creativity in the Digital World: In the Rhythm of Intellectual Property” and the "Registered Trademark of the Year 2024” ceremony was organized by the State Patent Bureau. During the World Intellectual Property Day celebration, the best registered trademarks of 2024 were awarded in the categories “For Lithuania,” “For Europe,” and “For the World.” Special awards were also presented for the categories “Most Noticed,” “Most Lithuanian Wordmark,” “Best Design,” “Most Innovative,” and “Business Favorite.” Nearly 120 trademarks competed in the contest, which was evaluated by a competent panel of experts from Lithuania and abroad.

Symbolically, we end the most active month of this initiative with an important recognition—"Check your balls" was awarded Most Innovative Registered Trademark of 2024 in the special nominations selected by a professional jury, and was also noticed and appreciated in the Business Favorite category.

"The mark is truly striking—slightly provocative, emotionally engaging, makes people smile, and doesn’t leave anyone indifferent. But the initiative ‘Check your balls’ addresses serious topics: raising awareness about one’s health, being attuned to your own body and sensations, seeking help from urologists in time, and emphasizing the importance of preventive programs to avoid oncological diseases. And of course, tackling masculinity stereotypes that prevent men from seeking help in time, and the cost of delay. These recognitions always motivate us to further develop this initiative and spread important messages to male audiences, highlighting sensitive issues for society,” shared Indrė Ereminė, the project lead, after the event.

The Lithuanian Urological Association is organizing the “Check your balls” communication campaign for the second year. Its goal is to draw young men's attention to sexual health and encourage timely visits to urologists when unusual bodily changes are noticed. Educating young men about the importance of self-examination, staying aware of their bodies, speaking about testicular cancer, and reducing stigma—this is the message of this year’s campaign, which is organized in partnership with the Lithuanian Golf Federation.
